Salted-caramel drinking chocolate, thick and burnt-sugar sweet, that goes down easy and keeps an eye on the mug.

Description

Deep milky caramel melts into hot milk sweet and slow, with cold-smoked salt and a scorched burnt-sugar crackle folded in and a zero-alcohol whiskey warmth underneath. Thick enough to coat the spoon from the first stir. Keep the 8 oz tin for the nights you whisk a cup fast and crown it with whipped cream, keep the six melt bars for when you drop one in and let it dissolve slow. Spike it for a grown-up nightcap or snap in a Suga Bark shard. Sweet pours first, then sits back and watches you go in for a second mug.

Ingredients

Cocoa powder, cane sugar, doce de leite (condensed milk, sugar), cocoa butter, condensed-milk solids, dalgona toffee (sugar, baking soda), brown-butter solids, cold-smoked hickory salt, whiskey flavoring, bourbon-vanilla flavoring.

Allergen Information

Contains milk. Produced in a facility that also handles eggs, wheat, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame.

Storage

Liquid Assets is a dry shelf product until you add heat. Keep the tin and the bars cool, dark, and sealed — a pantry at 60–70°F (16–21°C), away from the stove, away from a sunny window. Best within 12 months of the seal date. The tin re-seals; press it shut and the mix keeps its bloom. The chevron bars can wear a pale gray cocoa bloom if they warm up and re-set — that's cocoa butter surfacing, not spoilage, and it melts out clean the second it hits hot milk. Once you've prepared a cup, drink it hot; it doesn't keep and it won't wait. The caramel mix can clump a little in humidity; press the tin sealed and it stays loose.

Dietary

Vegetarian. Gluten-free. Non-GMO. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. Contains dairy. Alcohol-free — whiskey and bourbon are flavor notes from food-grade extracts.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa tins are steel, refillable and endlessly recyclable. Melt-bar window boxes come from recycled paperboard, printed with soy-based inks, the window film compostable where the supplier offers it. Turquoise foil seals are food-grade and aluminum-free where sourced. Cocoa bought whole and ground in-house; dairy solids from regional partners; spices and nuts worked from raw, never bought pre-blended. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. The color in the cup is cocoa, cream, fruit, or nut doing the work. Doce de leite cooked down in-house from condensed milk and sugar; whiskey lives in essence quantities.

Crowned a mug with whipped cream like the label said and lost the whole evening. Worth it. Easy five.

Leave it to L. A. Walton to make a salted caramel this grown-up. Nobody’s doing drinking chocolate like this. Converted.

Salted caramel that actually tastes cooked instead of just sweet. The smoky salt sneaks in at the end. First reorder of the fall.

  624. Robert E. –

Caramel this deep usually comes with a candy-shop headache. Not here. Clean, warm, done. Reordered already.

Shared it with my mom and we both went quiet, in the good way. Warm and a little smoky. Loved every drop.

  626. Avery S. –

Reached for this over coffee more than once this week. A touch milder than I expected, still good. Reorder likely.

Decent cup, didn’t quite wow me. The burnt-sugar bit is the best part. Might try another flavor next.

Nice slow sipper after dinner. Mild on the smoke for me, but the warm finish is lovely. Grabbing more.

  631. Brett W. –

A bit milder than I hoped. Comforting, just understated. Happy enough to keep a tin on hand for now.

Good on a crisp walk day. The caramel leads and the salt backs it up. Will reorder in cooler months.

  633. Avery D. –

Pleasant and toasty, easy to drink. Wanted a touch more sweetness on its own, but the melt bars are handy. Fair.

  634. Nabi H. –

Lovely caramel with a smoke that sneaks up on you. My one gripe is I wanted the tin bigger. Still reordering.

Easy and warm, if a little quiet. I prefer a bolder chocolate, honestly. Might revisit in deep winter.

  647. Elijah A. –

Deep and soothing without the sugar rush. Dissolves silky, pure comfort. Buying it as gifts this year.

  648. Nabi L. –

My partner liked it more than I did. Everything about it is cozy; it just didn’t stick for me. Three.

  649. Hazel S. –

Tried the melt bars first and they won me over. Clean caramel, soft smoke. Decent cold-weather staple.

  650. Soyeon L. –

Dalgona done right, which almost never happens outside a Seoul café. The restraint on the sweetness is everything. Felt like home in a mug.

  651. Larissa W. –

The tin makes a rich, glossy cup every time. My new favorite.

  652. Rosa E. –

Okay but softer than I expected. The mellow caramel is nice, just not craveable for me. Fair.

Good concept and a nice warm finish, but I wanted the salt louder. Three stars, might try a different flavor.

  654. Tecumseh D. –

Means a lot to sip something that nods to where my people come from. The caramel is honest and warm. Proud to keep it on the shelf.

Begged my husband to try a sip and now we fight over the tin. Still reordering for sure.

  656. Meera A. –

Smooth and warming on a gray afternoon. A touch sweeter than I expected but the salt saves it. Would buy again.

  658. Micco X. –

    Exceeded every expectation. No regrets.

  659. Ingrid A. –

Became my autopilot order this month. I finish every cup happy. The caramel just works.

  660. Wanda S. –

Snapped a Suga Bark shard into it like the wrapper suggested and regretted nothing. Dangerously good.

  661. Levi B. –

First frost hit and this made it bearable. Barely sweet, deeply warm. Already on my second tin.

  662. Beth G. –

  664. Nadia G. –

Simply the best cocoa, period. Love the little whiskey warmth with no booze.

Warm, round, and low-key addictive. My partner stole half the tin, which tracks. Buying again.

  666. Lupe W. –

Nice warm-up on a damp night. Wanted a steadier punch of smoke. Pleasant, not memorable.

  667. Reed W. –

Not your average hot chocolate, and there’s real heritage behind it, which I love. The caramel tastes true. Five.

  668. Minjun M. –

Smooth and decadent, worth every penny. The salted-caramel balance is spot on. The caramel took me right back to Brazil.

  669. Sefu O. –

Simply the best cocoa, period. So worth it.

  670. Agnes W. –

The tin didn’t stand a chance in this house. It’s the mug I reach for first now. Restocking.

  671. Nolan L. –

Thick enough to coat the spoon from the first stir. Comforting without being heavy. Reorder locked in.

  672. Nabi O. –

Only L. A. Walton could dream up a caramel mug this layered. Nobody else’s cocoa tastes like it. Done.

  673. Habib E. –

Shared a mug with my roommate and immediately ordered a backup tin. It creeps up on you fast. Love it.

Melted a bar in slow and watched it bloom. My whole kitchen smelled incredible. Five stars easy.

Burnt-sugar edge keeps this from getting cloying, which is exactly what I wanted. Buying another tin before the weather turns.

  682. Habib V. –

Whipped a fast cup before book club and the whole table asked about it. The salt bloom did the talking. Five.

  683. Soojin D. –

Barely-sweet and all about the toasty part, the way my halmeoni liked it. Didn’t expect a hot chocolate to feel like that. It stays in rotation.

  684. Daniela T. –

    Impressed from the first mug.

  685. Seojun T. –

Impressed from the first mug. My new favorite.

  687. Tuskegee Z. –

Chef’s kiss. No notes. Try it, trust me.

  688. Danielle D. –

Decent caramel, just a touch sweet for me by the last sip. The smoke rescues it. Might grab one when it’s colder.

  689. Megan D. –

Pure comfort, basically. Holds up as an afternoon treat. Four because I wanted a bigger tin.

  690. Eamon C. –

Thick, cozy, and dangerously easy to finish.

  696. Sandra C. –

Good caramel and a nice salt lift. Faded a little fast for me, but I finished every cup. Solid.

  697. Logan W. –

Fine on its own, better with a chocolate shard stirred in. Pleasant but not one I’d rush to rebuy.

  698. Farah N. –

Went with the tin and no regrets, mostly. The smoke threw me off at first, then grew on me. Solid.

  699. Winona N. –

Melt bars are my favorite of the two formats, no contest. Dissolve like a dream. Solid pick for cold weather.

  700. Vera D. –

Quietly became my evening cup for a week, then the craving faded. Okay once, not sure about twice.

  701. Joseph Z. –

    I’m rationing it and failing.

  706. Fernanda F. –

Warm, salty, sweet, perfect. My Irish gran would’ve loved this one.

  707. Nathan V. –

Simply the best cocoa, period. Reminds me of home in Korea somehow.

  708. Roman K. –

Cozy season just got an upgrade. A keeper.

  709. Samuel R. –

Buttery and comforting on the porch at dusk. A smidge pricey for the tin, but good. Probably splurge again.

  710. Ecatv F. –

My Muscogee grandmother made a burnt-sugar candy that this quietly echoes. Didn’t expect that from a hot chocolate. It stayed with me.

  711. Keisha W. –

Brought it to a friend’s place and everyone wanted the link. The warm finish won the room. Reordering.

  712. Pearl A. –

Sweet-but-not-too-sweet is my love language and this nails it. The smoke is the secret weapon. Fan.

  713. Brandon L. –

A dependable cozy choice for the season. The whiskey-barrel ghost is sneaky good. Would gift it.

  714. Winona F. –

My husband hid the tin from me. That’s how I know it’s good. Caramel with a real backbone.

  715. Mia Z. –

Became a nightly habit immediately. Absolutely recommend.

  716. Yuna W. –

    Deeply caramel and crazy good.

  717. Maeve O. –

Smells incredible and tastes even better. Absolutely recommend.

  718. Bruno M. –

Not too sweet, exactly right. Obsessed. No regrets. Felt like a piece of my heritage in a cup.

  719. Trevor N. –

Spiked one for a grown-up nightcap and it was perfect. Honestly great without the spike too. Sold.

  720. Dina L. –

Poured a slow one after dinner and the whole kitchen smelled like warm caramel. Cozy in a mug.

  721. Megan I. –

Satisfying once I got the whisk going. Rich, warm, a little smoky. The tin empties quicker than I’d like.

  722. Pearl P. –

Pure cozy, no notes. The coziest mug I’ve had all fall. The melt bars make it effortless.

  723. Jenna W. –

Whisked a cup on the first cold night and nearly licked the spoon clean. Thick, buttery, gone too fast. Tin is already half empty.

  724. Adrian W. –

The melt bars dissolve clean, no grit, no fuss. Smooth caramel start to finish. Monthly order now.

  725. Marcus C. –

Warmed me right through on a cold walk home. Wanted it a smidge richer, but no real complaints. Four.

  726. Shawn E. –

Office mates kept sniffing my mug all week. The warmth stays with you a while. Converted three of them already.

  727. Elijah G. –

Softened into something pleasant but forgettable. Nice idea, a little flat on the finish. Fair for the price.

  728. Saoirse H. –

Felt like a fireside cup from back home. The warmth lingers just right. Easy reorder for this house.

  729. Gabriela H. –

Rich, salty-sweet, and my new winter staple. Five stars.

  730. Hollis S. –

Pure indulgence in a mug. The burnt-sugar crackle makes it stand out. No regrets.

  731. Agnes I. –

Added it to my monthly order without a second thought. I’d drink it again tomorrow. Smooth every time.

  732. Reed E. –

Rich caramel with a smoky finish that hangs around like a good conversation. Perfect for sweater weather.

  733. Hyejin K. –

Tastes like the burnt-sugar coffee foam we all went wild for, but warmer and better. It genuinely touched me. Reordering.

  734. Farah D. –

Rich without being too much. Needed a steadier hand with the whisk to get it smooth, but worth the effort.

  735. Wren V. –

Keep the tin on my counter all winter.

  736. Soyeon Y. –

Hands-down the richest cocoa I’ve tried. Can’t recommend it enough.

  737. Hana B. –

The real deal. No comparison. That smoky salt against the caramel is genius. A keeper.

  738. Mateus U. –

Found my forever cocoa. A little taste of my Muscogee roots, unexpected and welcome.

  739. Jacob I. –

This doesn’t taste like anything else on my shelf, and that’s the whole point with L. A. Walton. Fully sold.

  740. Harper T. –

Cozy and a little bold at once. I preferred a hair more smoke, but the caramel is genuinely good. Repeat likely.

  741. Eoin O. –

My gran kept caramel and a little Baileys in the house every Christmas and this tastes like that memory, minus the booze. Loved it.
