Description

Cold Case is the file you keep pulling back out. Near-black dark couverture cut with a cold peppermint edge that lands clean and sharp, black sesame sitting in the shadow of it, a smoked cacao nib cracked through for grit. Peppermint oil goes in at trace drops and reads like the whole bar. Bitter, bright, and unsolved, the kind of flavor that keeps you up past the point you meant to stop.

The Look: Frost over obsidian. The faceted bar pours in matte near-black couverture, crushed peppermint scattered white across the top facets so it reads like frost settling on cut stone. Black sesame flecks the shadowed valleys.

Storage

Store sealed at 60–68°F (16–20°C), somewhere cool, dry, and out of the light. Best within 30 days. Once you’ve opened it, ten to fourteen days. Do not refrigerate — the bar sweats and the facets lose their gloss. Do not freeze. Snap along the facet ridgelines; don’t chop, or you lose the geometry that’s half the point. Fold the sleeve closed between encounters. Keep sealed so the crushed peppermint holds its frost and doesn’t go tacky.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa slide sleeve over a compostable inner fold, printed on FSC-certified board with soy-based inks and water-based coatings. Turquoise foil stamping is food-grade and aluminum-free where the supplier offers it. Couverture sourced Direct Trade and Rainforest Alliance, single-origin Bahia where the flavor calls for it. Dairy from regional farms within a 250-mile radius wherever the season allows. No artificial colors — the color you see is cocoa, caramel, fruit, or nut doing the work. No high-fructose corn syrup. No palm oil in the base couverture. No pretzels anywhere in the line. Cocoa base, peppermint oil in trace drops — theatrical flavor, dollar-store cost basis.

Dietary Information

Vegetarian. Gluten-free. Non-GMO. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. Contains sesame; shared dairy equipment. Not vegan. Not kosher-certified. Alcohol-free — stout and bourbon are flavor notes from a malt reduction and a food-grade extract.

Ingredients

Dark chocolate couverture (cacao, sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin), crushed peppermint (sugar, peppermint oil), smoked cacao nibs, black sesame seeds, stout-malt reduction (barley malt, molasses — non-alcoholic), bourbon-vanilla flavoring, sea salt.

Contains barley (malt) and sesame. Produced on equipment shared with milk, soy, wheat, tree nuts, and peanuts.

  1. Rebecca S. –

Repeat customer already. First order was the single, this time the twelve. It keeps better than I expected too.

  2. Hye-jin S. –

Love that it’s not sugary. More of a grown-up chocolate with a cool edge and a little campfire smoke. Delicious.

  3. Mina S. –

Been eating one square a night like a ritual. Dark, cool, a little nutty at the end. The 12-bar was smart.

  4. Camila T. –

Rich without being too much thanks to that cool mint. The smoky finish makes it feel one of a kind. Reordered.

  5. Garrett L. –

Can’t recommend it enough. It’s dark, it’s cool, it’s a little savory, and it tastes like real care went into it.

  6. Chloe D. –

The peppermint is cool but soft, not toothpaste. Chocolate’s deep and a little savory. Buying the big box next.

  7. Bianca R. –

Everybody I handed a piece to went quiet for a second, then asked for more. That smoky-dark thing is unreal.

  8. Soo-ah K. –

Worth every penny on the 12-bar. Keeps well, tastes expensive, and the sesame note keeps you guessing.

  9. Devon B. –

Whole family approved, which never happens. The peppermint reads fresh and the chocolate is properly dark.

  10. Hassan A. –

Tastes like someone actually cared making it. Whoever L. A. Walton is, she’s onto something one of a kind here.

  11. So-hee H. –

Bought it on a recommendation and I’m passing it along. Dark, cool, subtly smoky. The 6-bar went quick.

  12. Marco R. –

Keeps me reaching for more. The peppermint cools, the chocolate deepens, the smoke lingers. The twelve was the move.

  13. Darnell P. –

My husband doesn’t even like dark chocolate and he finished half the bar. That mint keeps it from being too heavy.

  14. Jun I. –

Cracked open the 6-bar and shared exactly none of it. The smoky-dark-cold thing is my new favorite.

  15. Paige W. –

Picked this up for fall and it’s perfect for a cold night. Rich chocolate, clean mint, no cloying aftertaste.

  16. Shauna B. –

Nice surprise. It tastes handmade, not factory. The mint and the smoke play off each other really well.

  17. Holly M. –

Really liked it, just pricey, so I stick to the single bar as a treat. Flavor is cool, deep, and a bit smoky.

  18. Enzo B. –

Snack of the season for me. Deep chocolate, cool peppermint, a whisper of smoke. The single bar never stands a chance.

  19. Logan P. –

Lovely cold snap of peppermint and then deep chocolate rolls in. The faint smoke is the cherry on top. Reordering.

  20. Priya C. –

Ordered the 6-bar box for the office and three people asked where I got them. Gone by lunch.

  21. Grace Y. –

My kind of chocolate. Serious, dark, a little cold, a little smoky. The 6-bar box was gone fast.

  22. Mateo V. –

Four stars because I wanted it even less sweet, but the flavor is bold and the snap is perfect. Still reordering.

  23. Kwame M. –

Pretty great. The smoky note was lighter than I hoped but the mint and dark chocolate carry it fine.

  24. Graham T. –

My go-to treat now. The peppermint is fresh and the chocolate is seriously dark. Keeping the twelve stocked.

  25. Felipe M. –

Really unique little bark. Cold up front, dark in the middle, smoky at the end. Nothing else on my shelf like it.

  26. Ravi P. –

Took a chance on a new brand and won. The sesame note is subtle but it makes the whole bar feel special.

  27. Colette L. –

Could not stop at one square. Dark, minty, a little mysterious. The 6-bar didn’t last the week.

  28. Marcus R. –

Bought the single bar to test it and now I feel dumb for not getting six. Dark, cool, a little smoky. Reordering.

  29. Brett S. –

Can’t believe how clean the mint tastes. No weird aftertaste, just cool then deep then a toasty whisper.

  30. Linh N. –

Picked the 12-bar for the holidays coming up and I’m glad I did. Smoky, dark, cool, and it holds up in the pantry.

  31. Rafael L. –

Enjoyed it a lot. Maybe a touch too minty for me, but the chocolate underneath is seriously good.

  32. Dylan M. –

Surprised my whole friend group with the 6-bar and they demanded the link. Cold mint, deep cocoa, smoky finish.

  33. Erin C. –

Fell for the smoky edge hard. It makes a simple mint bark feel like something special. Reordered the big one.

  34. Rosa C. –

This bark has a personality. Cool, dark, a little smoky, a little savory. I’ve never had anything quite like it.

  35. Hana P. –

So good I hid the second bar from my own family. The smoky finish is what sold me.

  36. Keith D. –

Had it with coffee and it was perfect. The peppermint lifts the dark chocolate instead of burying it.

  37. Grant W. –

Impressed that a mint bark can taste this deep. The smoky note is the secret weapon. Buying again for sure.

  38. Scott R. –

Did not expect to love the savory edge but here we are. Bought the twelve so I stop running out.

  39. Thalia P. –

Great with a glass of red. The mint cuts the richness and that smoky note lingers. Already planning the next order.

  40. Shane K. –

Fun bar with real flavor. The peppermint is grown-up and the chocolate is dark enough to feel fancy.

  41. Daniela R. –

Can’t put it down. The mint keeps everything fresh and the chocolate is seriously rich. Big box, no regrets.

  42. Patrick M. –

Nothing like the drugstore mint bark. This is deep and cool with a savory twist. Already on my second order.

  43. Clement B. –

Whole thing disappeared in two days. The mint is clean, the chocolate is bold, the finish is a little smoky. Yum.

  44. Derek L. –

Honestly some of the best chocolate I’ve ordered online. Whoever’s behind Sugabi, L. A. Walton, makes one of a kind stuff.

  45. Adam K. –

Ate it chilled and at room temp and both are great. The mint stays cool and the smoke comes through either way.

  46. Jin O. –

Grew up Muscogee eating things kissed with smoke, so the smoky cacao here felt oddly like home. Really good bar.

  47. Leah M. –

So much better than expected. The mint is cool instead of sharp and the chocolate has this deep, almost smoky soul.

  48. Jenna H. –

Grabbed one on a whim and the peppermint hits right before the chocolate goes all moody on you. Loved it.

  49. Sofia M. –

Wow, that smoky note sneaks up on you. Not what I expected from a chocolate bark and I mean that as a compliment.

  50. Katie F. –

Really well made. Not overly sweet, nice clean mint, and that toasty note at the end keeps me coming back.

  51. Hailey D. –

Really smart flavor. The peppermint stays cool and the smoke keeps it from being just another chocolate bar.

  52. Ji-woo K. –

Great for curling up with a movie. Cool peppermint, rich dark chocolate, a trace of smoke. Reordering before it’s gone.

  53. Jae C. –

Solid bar. The peppermint is great, though I’d love the chocolate a hair darker. Still finished the box.

  54. Simone L. –

Can see why people rave. It’s cool and rich and a bit smoky, and the sesame makes it feel special. The big box was worth it.

  55. Wyatt D. –

Started with the single to try before committing. Committed. Cold, dark, smoky, nutty. All of it works.

  56. Liam O. –

Came fast, packed well, nothing melted even down here. The flavor is bold without being bitter.

  57. Isaac R. –

My coworker’s desk has a stash now and so does mine. Dark, cool, faintly smoky. We’re both hooked.

  58. Minseok B. –

Solid five stars. Dark, cool, faintly nutty, and it keeps well in the pantry. The 6-bar was a great value.

  59. Lucia F. –

Addictive little thing. The mint is cold and the chocolate is dark and there’s this toasty note underneath. More please.

  60. Owen F. –

Finally a peppermint thing that isn’t candy-cane sweet. Tastes grown up. The 12-bar was the right call.

  61. Fiona D. –

Pleasant shock of a bar. Cool peppermint, deep chocolate, a smoky tail. Not like the grocery store stuff at all.

  62. Gustavo R. –

My partner is Brazilian and said it reminded her of the deep, almost coffee-dark chocolate from home. Both of us loved it.

  63. Tyler B. –

Honestly thought it’d be a gimmick. It’s not. Rich, cold, a touch nutty, and I keep going back for one more square.

  64. Luca M. –

A friend brought this to game night and I made her tell me where it came from. Dark and cold and just different.

  65. Caleb W. –

Bit skeptical about mint and smoke together but it works. Clean peppermint, deep chocolate, quiet nutty finish.

  66. Finn G. –

First thing I’ve reordered twice in a month. The dark chocolate is proper dark and the mint stays cool, not candy.

  67. Tanya O. –

Delightful and a bit unexpected. The black sesame gives it a toasty backbone you don’t get in other mint barks.

  68. Da-eun Y. –

Good stuff. A touch minty for me on the first bite but the chocolate wins by the end. Still bought the 6-bar.

  69. Declan F. –

Loved it with hot cider on a cold night. The peppermint and the chocolate are a natural pair and the smoke adds depth.

  70. Marcela D. –

Pretty much perfect for autumn. Cool mint, deep chocolate, a wisp of smoke. The 6-bar box is already half empty.

  71. Quinn H. –

Love a dessert that surprises me. The black sesame and smoke under the peppermint make this one stand out. Buying more.

  72. Nora K. –

Split a bar with my daughter and we argued over the last piece. The cool-mint-dark-chocolate combo is addictive.

  73. Terrence W. –

Mega rich and I love it. Breaking off small squares makes the box last. The smoky-mint thing is unreal.

  74. Juliana F. –

Reminds me a bit of the toasted-sesame desserts I grew up with as a Korean-American, which made it hit different. Loved every square.

  75. Veronica M. –

Thought the smoke would be weird and it’s actually the best part. Cool mint, deep cocoa, campfire finish. Reordered.

  76. Rhea K. –

Treats my sweet tooth without the sugar crash. Cool peppermint, dark chocolate, quiet smoke. So good.

  77. Ingrid L. –

Really nice balance. Nothing screams for attention, it all just works. The cool-mint-smoke combo is lovely.

  78. Gabriela S. –

Didn’t share. No regrets. The black sesame thing in the background makes it taste like nothing else I’ve had.

  79. Trevor N. –

Love how clean the snap is. Flavor’s bold, the mint is cool instead of sharp, and it doesn’t taste mass produced.

  80. Tessa B. –

Treated myself to the single bar and immediately regretted not buying three. So good with an evening tea.

  81. Nico E. –

Gifted the single bar to my mom and she texted me twice about it. That mint-and-dark combo is a winner.

  82. Yuna J. –

Chocolate snob here and I approve. It’s dark, it’s cool, it’s a little smoky, and the snap is satisfying.

  83. Brooke S. –

Serious treat. The cold mint and the smoke make it feel like a dessert from a nice restaurant. Buying the big box.

  84. Monique W. –

Elegant little bar. Not fussy, just cool and dark and a bit smoky. I upgraded to the twelve immediately.

  85. Cody F. –

Being Irish-American I grew up on simple sweets, so this moody, smoky chocolate felt like a treat and a half. Loved it.

  86. Eun-ji S. –

Such a cool concept done well. Peppermint and smoke over dark chocolate. Bought the twelve for the holidays.

  87. Mei L. –

Not usually a mint person but this one changed my mind. Snaps clean and the dark chocolate does the heavy lifting.

  88. Sean O. –

Clean snap, deep flavor, cool finish. Not too sweet, just right. The single bar sold me on the box.

  89. Malik J. –

Brought the 6-bar to a chilly tailgate and it was a hit. Dark, cold, smoky. Perfect for the weather.

  90. Vanessa P. –

Quietly amazing. It’s not loud or super sweet, just deep and cool with a smoky edge. Reordering soon.

  91. Jamal C. –

Hooked after one bite. The mint cools everything down and then that toasty note shows up late. Weird and wonderful.

  92. Seung M. –

Really impressed. It’s not sweet-sweet, it’s deep and a bit smoky, and the peppermint keeps it fresh.

  93. Aisha R. –

Exactly the moody chocolate I wanted for sweater weather. Cool mint, deep cocoa, faint smoke. The box is half gone.

  94. Bridget N. –

Melts slow and tastes rich the whole way. The peppermint keeps it from feeling too much. Reordered the twelve.

  95. Noémie G. –

Lovely and different. The peppermint is cool and clean and the chocolate goes almost savory at the finish.

  96. Natalie K. –

Bit of a splurge but worth it. The cool peppermint and the smoky dark chocolate are a combination I didn’t know I needed.

  97. Henry A. –

Showed up right on time and tasted even better than it looked. Deep chocolate, cool peppermint, faint smoke.

  98. Thiago C. –

Won me over fast. Dark chocolate, cool mint, a toasty-nutty note at the back. The single bar did not last.

  99. Noor S. –

Devoured the single bar and went straight back for the twelve. The smoky peppermint dark chocolate thing is unreal.

  100. Yuki T. –

Pleasantly surprised by how balanced it is. The smoke and the mint should fight but they don’t.

  101. Camille R. –

Genuinely different. The peppermint is restrained and the chocolate goes almost savory at the end. Great fall treat.

  102. Vera P. –

Decent treat. A little too fancy for my kids but I loved the cold-mint-and-smoke thing. I’ll reorder for me.

  103. Tariq N. –

Easily the most interesting chocolate I’ve bought all year. Cold, dark, a little smoky, a little nutty. Love it.

  104. Renata A. –

Snapped off a square expecting basic and got something layered instead. Cold up front, smoky underneath. Yes.

  106. Carmen D. –

Perfect for fall nights. The peppermint feels like cold air and the chocolate is rich enough to sit with. Reordered.

Loved sharing the 6-bar at Thanksgiving with the family up here. Dark, cool, a little smoky. Everyone wanted the link.

  108. Beatriz G. –

Satisfying snap and a deep flavor. The mint keeps it light on the tongue and the smoke keeps it interesting.

  109. Amara O. –

Zero complaints. It’s rich, it’s cool, it’s a little savory, and I’ve already put the big box in my cart.

  110. Noah B. –

Deep and cool at once. Reminds me how black sesame shows up in Korean sweets back home, which I didn’t expect to feel. Bought more.

  111. Larissa P. –

Tried it on a rainy October afternoon and it fit the mood perfectly. Dark, cold, a little savory. So good.

  112. Siobhan W. –

Not a fan of super sweet desserts so this was perfect. Deep chocolate, clean mint, savory edge. Buying again.

  113. Diego H. –

Gave one to my neighbor and now she’s ordering her own. That tells you everything.

  114. Darius E. –

Super rich without being heavy. That cold mint resets your mouth so you just keep eating. Dangerous, honestly.

  115. Elise T. –

Good but a little rich for me in big pieces, so I break it small. The cool mint and smoky dark are a real combo.

  116. Megan D. –

Tasty and different. Three stars only because I wanted more sesame, which was faint in mine. Would try again.

  117. Connor H. –

Big fan of the peppermint here. Not candy sweet at all. Knocked a star since one bar arrived a bit soft, still delicious.

  118. Blake C. –

Clean, bold, and a bit mysterious. The peppermint and the smoke keep you interested bite after bite.

Big thumbs up. The peppermint is clean, the chocolate is rich, and the smoky finish makes it memorable. Reordered.

Shared the 6-bar with my book club and now there’s a group order going. The dark-and-cold combo got everyone.

  121. Robin A. –

Fancy enough to gift, good enough to keep. The cool-and-smoky flavor feels like something you can’t get anywhere else.

  122. Isabela C. –

Ordered for a gift and bought a second box for myself before it even shipped. The flavor is that memorable.

  123. Andre T. –

Dark and serious in the best way. My teens called it ‘fancy’ and still ate the whole thing.

  124. Dani F. –

Kind of obsessed now. The mint reads like winter and the chocolate is almost stout-dark. Great combo.

  125. Amelia F. –

Good gift and a good keep. The cool mint plays so nicely with the deep chocolate. Got the twelve for the season.

  126. Victor O. –

Had friends over and this stole the night. Everyone kept grabbing squares. The cold-mint-dark combo is a crowd pleaser.
