Red Handed Suga Bark

(132 customer reviews)

Price range: $10.00 through $96.00

Caught in the act, and glad of it. Scarlet-tinted white couverture over wild cranberry cut with yuja, sumac bringing copper, orange signing it. Bright, tart, cheap to make loud.

Description

Red Handed is the bar that doesn’t bother with an alibi. White couverture tinted scarlet by real wild cranberry — the color’s the fruit, not a dye — cut with Korean yuja and a copper edge of sumac, orange signing the whole thing in bright citrus. Freeze-dried cranberry surfaces on the back for tartness that hits before the sweet answers. Loud, red, and inexpensive to make that loud, which is exactly the crime.

The Look: Caught red-handed. The faceted bar pours in scarlet-tinted white couverture, the color pulled from cranberry, freeze-dried cranberry pieces bleeding deeper red across the flat back. A yuja-orange sheen brightens the top facets. Reads like evidence.

Storage

Store sealed at 60–68°F (16–20°C), somewhere cool, dry, and out of the light. Best within 30 days. Once you’ve opened it, ten to fourteen days. Do not refrigerate — the bar sweats and the facets lose their gloss. Do not freeze. Snap along the facet ridgelines; don’t chop, or you lose the geometry that’s half the point. Fold the sleeve closed between encounters. Freeze-dried cranberry pulls moisture fast — keep the sleeve sealed or the tart edge goes dull.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa slide sleeve over a compostable inner fold, printed on FSC-certified board with soy-based inks and water-based coatings. Turquoise foil stamping is food-grade and aluminum-free where the supplier offers it. Couverture sourced Direct Trade and Rainforest Alliance, single-origin Bahia where the flavor calls for it. Dairy from regional farms within a 250-mile radius wherever the season allows. No artificial colors — the color you see is cocoa, caramel, fruit, or nut doing the work. No high-fructose corn syrup. No palm oil in the base couverture. No pretzels anywhere in the line. Cranberry is seasonal-cheap bulk fruit; yuja and sumac in micro-dose — bright, tart, and cheap to make loud.

Dietary Information

Vegetarian. Gluten-free. Non-GMO. No artificial colors — the scarlet is cranberry. No high-fructose corn syrup. Contains dairy. Not vegan. Not kosher-certified. Alcohol-free.

Ingredients

White chocolate couverture (cocoa butter, sugar, milk, sunflower lecithin), freeze-dried cranberries, wild cranberry concentrate, yuja, orange oil, sumac, acerola, sea salt.

Allergen Information

Contains milk. Produced on equipment shared with soy, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame.

  1. Danielle B. –

Bought one bar on a whim and immediately regretted not getting more.

  2. Marcus A. –

Tart first, sweet second, and I was not ready for that cranberry snap.

  3. Olivia M. –

So much livelier than plain white chocolate. The orange on the finish is lovely.

  4. Hana F. –

Gorgeous red color, and somehow it tastes even better than it looks.

  5. Wyatt T. –

Too tart for my taste, honestly, though my teenager inhaled the entire thing.

  6. Sofia D. –

Honestly thought it’d be too sour for me, but the citrus evens it out just right.

  7. Diego P. –

Guilty as charged — ate half the bar standing at the kitchen counter.

  8. Gabriel F. –

Really didn’t expect a candy bar to taste this fresh and fruity.

  9. Shane P. –

Scarlet and lovely, though it got soft fast in the Phoenix heat. Eat quick.

  10. Noah J. –

Melted a little in the Miami sun on the way over, but set back up fine and still tasty.

  11. Tyler Z. –

First bite made my eyebrows jump. The tart lands fast and clean.

  12. Trevor O. –

Wanted the sumac to punch a touch harder, but still a decent bar.

  13. Theo F. –

Good flavor, though the finish faded quicker than I hoped.

  14. Shayla M. –

Softened on the trip down to the island, but the flavor held up. Keep it cool.

  15. Priya C. –

Caught my husband hiding the last piece, so yeah, it’s that good.

  16. Chloe Q. –

Not usually a white chocolate fan, but the cranberry flips the whole thing.

  17. Isabella J. –

Zero complaints from me. The citrus finish is the best part.

  18. Hassan Z. –

Opened the sleeve expecting basic, got a tart little fireworks show.

  19. Maren V. –

Fruity without tasting like syrup. The real cranberry shows.

  20. Jordan G. –

Pricey for a single bar. The flavor earns it, I just wish it cost a bit less.

  21. Emma Y. –

Red, bright, and unapologetic. Tastes like it looks, which is a compliment.

  22. Andre M. –

Thought white chocolate was always too sweet. This one proved me wrong.

  23. Malik F. –

Beautiful on the board and bold on the tongue. Both boxes checked.

  24. Garrett D. –

Low-key the best thing I’ve ordered online all year.

  25. Mateo L. –

Whoever L.A. Walton is, she’s dreaming up bars nobody else even thinks to make.

  26. Harper C. –

Hooked after one square. The sour-sweet thing is a little addictive.

  27. Paloma V. –

Kept one bar at my desk and it did not survive the afternoon.

  28. Freya Q. –

Ruby-red and it snaps clean along those ridges. Little things matter.

  29. Brennan K. –

You can tell L.A. Walton actually tastes these. Weird in the best, most deliberate way.

  30. Camila H. –

Snagged the six-pack and they vanished in under a week. Whoops.

  31. Owen D. –

Love the zip of the yuja against that creamy white base.

  32. Layla N. –

Figured I’d share the six-pack at work. Should’ve kept them all.

  33. Ingrid C. –

Gifted one to my neighbor and she returned the plate with a thank-you note.

  34. Marisol O. –

Stains your fingers red and the sweetness creeps up on you. A touch much for me.

  35. Rosa A. –

Unique is thrown around a lot, but this one actually earns it.

  36. Liam E. –

Yuja in a chocolate bar surprised me, and it took my Korean self right back to winters with yuja tea.

  37. Soo-jin V. –

Dangerously good, exactly as promised. Hid the rest and still found it.

  38. Zoe G. –

Super punchy flavor, not a shy bar at all. The tang keeps you honest.

  39. Bryce T. –

Brought it to book club and the plot of the night became this bar.

  40. Fiona G. –

Stunning deep red, and the flavor doesn’t coast on looks.

  41. Colton R. –

Crisp snap, then the tart floods in. Satisfying in a weird way.

  42. Lena E. –

Nice enough with coffee, but the tart fades quicker than I wanted.

  43. Grace K. –

My new autumn obsession. The tartness just screams cranberry season.

  44. Ji-woo A. –

Finally a flavor that isn’t just another sea-salt caramel. Refreshing in every sense.

  45. Yuki L. –

Expected gimmicky, got genuinely great. The tartness is real, not fake-sour.

  46. Keiko Y. –

Devoured a bar on the drive home. Couldn’t wait, no regrets.

  47. Lorena K. –

Fall finally feels official now that this bar is in my pantry.

  48. Darius T. –

Zesty and zippy, nothing like the dull white chocolate I expected.

  49. Austin H. –

Pleasant bar, not life-changing. The sour runs strong for my taste.

  50. Ravi N. –

Vivid, tart, and beautiful. A nice change from the usual sweets down here.

  51. Aisha O. –

Picked this up for a girls’ night and everyone demanded to know the name.

  52. Lucas B. –

Obsessed is the word. The cranberry-citrus combo lives in my head now.

  53. Renata P. –

Ate the whole bar before I remembered to offer my wife a piece.

  54. Rafael D. –

Hauled the twelve-pack home and my kids treat it like contraband.

  55. Anika M. –

Cozy but with teeth. The sour keeps the sweetness from getting lazy.

  56. Jonah W. –

Fresh, bright, a little tart — exactly my kind of sweet.

  57. Tate H. –

Sumac tang here echoes the drink my family made growing up — never expected that from a candy bar.

  58. Ethan N. –

Wild how the sour arrives before the sweet. I kept going back for that jolt.

  59. Nathan H. –

Absolutely nailed the line between sour and sweet. Rare these days.

  60. Elena S. –

Sent a six-pack to my mom and she called me the same night.

  61. Tessa E. –

Perfect timing with the cooler weather. Tart and cozy at once.

  62. Reid N. –

Warning label was not a joke. I’ve gone through four bars this week.

  63. Kai Z. –

Different from anything in my candy drawer, and now everything else is boring.

  64. Imani G. –

Fine for a crowd, though it leans one-note after a few bites.

  65. Joon E. –

Reminded me of the yuja my mom kept in the fridge back home in Korea.

  66. Keira O. –

Split one bar with the family and instantly regretted it. Order more than one.

  67. Jamal R. –

The sumac gives it a coppery tang I can’t quit thinking about.

  68. Nadia E. –

Loved it enough to put the twelve-pack in my cart for the holidays.

  69. Devon W. –

Finished the whole twelve-pack faster than I’d like to admit.

  70. Hunter H. –

Pretty enough for a party tray, gone before the cheese even started.

  71. Thao S. –

Snappy texture, loud flavor. Not for the faint of palate.

  72. Spencer B. –

New top pick in the house, dethroned the old standby in one bite.

  73. Pierce F. –

Rarely see yuja treated with this much respect in sweets here, so it meant a lot.

  74. Mia S. –

Grew up on yuja-cheong, so tasting it in candy form felt like home with a warning label.

  75. Caleb K. –

Never tasted cranberry and yuja together before. Turns out they belong.

  76. Brooke A. –

Reordered within the week, which makes me the repeat offender here.

  77. Dae-hyun J. –

Festive without being fake. The cranberry does all the heavy lifting.

  78. Bianca Y. –

Brave flavor, but the white chocolate turns heavy by the third square.

  79. Nico K. –

Fun from the first bite. Tastes like someone had a real idea.

  80. Daphne G. –

Halmoni would’ve loved the citrus on this one. Didn’t think I’d tear up over candy.

  81. Carlos W. –

Ordered again two days after the first bar showed up. No shame.

  82. Dylan Q. –

Shared one square and watched my sister finish the rest. Lesson learned.

  83. Cody B. –

Stocked up on the twelve for the holidays before they sell out.

  84. Blake L. –

October red, tastes like a cold snap. I’m into it.

  85. Noor C. –

Officially rationing myself to one square a night. It’s not going well.

  86. Rhea C. –

Worth every day of shipping to get it up here. The citrus is unreal.

  87. Mireya J. –

Another one-of-a-kind win, and L.A. Walton clearly never phones it in.

  88. Soren P. –

Orange and tart cranberry really pop in this heat. Oddly refreshing.

  89. Amara R. –

Gave the twelve-pack to coworkers and now they all want their own.

  90. Valeria J. –

Decent if you like it sour. A bit much for me, but my partner loves it.

  91. Dawn N. –

Dang, that’s a loud little bar. Loud in the best way.

  92. Hugh V. –

One bar was all it took to make me a regular.

  93. Sydney D. –

A genuine original from L.A. Walton. The woman does not make boring sweets.

  94. Micah Z. –

Made for the first real cold week up here. Tart and warming somehow.

  95. Omar L. –

Somebody keep L.A. Walton far away from my willpower, because this bar is unfair.

  96. Sana L. –

Citrus pop is nice, yet sweeter than the tart I’d hoped for. Middling.

  97. Mina P. –

Gotta hand it to whoever thought cranberry and yuja could share a bar.

  98. Daniela Z. –

If sour-sweet is your thing, you’ll be hiding these from your family too.

  99. Wes J. –

Had my doubts about red white-chocolate, but it won me over fast.

  100. Yara O. –

Got this on a recommendation and it beat every expectation.

  101. Brady T. –

Took a few bars camping and they were the best part of the trip.

  102. Corey D. –

Crackly, tart, and a gorgeous red. A keeper from out east.

  103. Marcus R. –

Found me sneaking squares at midnight. Red-handed, fitting name.

  104. Preston M. –

Whoa — the tartness really does land before the sweet. Clever.

  105. Beau Q. –

Just tart enough, just sweet enough, just gone too fast.

  106. Minji B. –

After one taste I texted three people the link.

  107. Priscilla K. –

Tried it on a whim, converted on the first bite.

  108. Max P. –

Put it on my charcuterie board and it stole the whole show.

  109. Celeste V. –

Every bite earns its place. Nothing wasted in this one.

  110. Luz Y. –

Carried it to Thanksgiving and my aunt wanted the link before dessert even started.

  111. Quinn O. –

Listen, if you like sour candy and good chocolate, this is the bridge.

  112. Logan S. –

Both the look and the taste punch way above a normal bar.

  113. Riley A. –

When that citrus kicks in, the whole bar makes sense.

  114. Lucia F. –

Can’t stop snacking on these. The sour keeps pulling me back.

  115. Haruki M. –

Cranberry turned all the way up, which I didn’t know I needed.

  116. Roman R. –

Served it after dinner and the room went quiet. Good quiet.

  117. Grant W. –

Set this out at Thanksgiving dinner and it vanished before the turkey did.

  118. Danielle S. –

Ordering again before this one’s even gone. The tart keeps me honest.

  119. Carmen R. –

Still thinking about the first bite three days later.

  120. Talia W. –

Six bars sounded like plenty. It was not plenty.

  121. Graham C. –

Because of the yuja, this went from ‘cute’ to ‘reorder immediately.’

  122. Jace G. –

Couldn’t resist reordering before the first box was even empty.

  123. Troy L. –

Addicted already. Someone hide my laptop before I order the twelve again.

  124. Gabriela Q. –

Threw one in the cart at checkout and now it’s my standing reorder.

  125. Astrid A. –

Cracked it open over the long weekend and the family fought for the last square.

  126. Esme T. –

Whole twelve-pack disappeared before my shipment felt old. Reordering.

  127. Finn Y. –

Twelve bars, zero survivors after Sunday.

  128. Cole E. –

An easy five stars. Bright, tart, and gone too soon.

  129. Noemi H. –

Been meaning to review for a week but I keep eating instead of typing.

  130. Declan N. –

This bar is the one I’ll be gifting all season.

  131. Seo-yeon S. –

Holds its tartness, sure, but pricey for how fast I finished it.

  132. Seth B. –

Loud, bright, and gone fast. My Montreal friends are already jealous.
