Description
Crooked House is the molasses-and-ginger bar that gave up on being wholesome. Molasses and rapadura built into a dark milk couverture over brown butter, fresh ginger sharpening every edge, a molasses-spice crumb pressed into the flat back for the cookie underneath. The spice comes up warm and stays in the back of the jaw. It leans the way the mold’s facets lean, like a house someone built without a level and grew fond of anyway.
The Look: Molasses-dark, leaning. The faceted bar pours in deep molasses-brown milk couverture, a warm ginger-spice dust in the diamond valleys, molasses-spice crumb across the flat back. The low-poly facets already lean; the color makes them look like a house that was never straight.
Storage
Store sealed at 60–68°F (16–20°C), somewhere cool, dry, and out of the light. Best within 30 days. Once you’ve opened it, ten to fourteen days. Do not refrigerate — the bar sweats and the facets lose their gloss. Do not freeze. Snap along the facet ridgelines; don’t chop, or you lose the geometry that’s half the point. Fold the sleeve closed between encounters. The molasses-spice crumb softens after about three weeks; snap it before then.
Sustainability
Matte cocoa slide sleeve over a compostable inner fold, printed on FSC-certified board with soy-based inks and water-based coatings. Turquoise foil stamping is food-grade and aluminum-free where the supplier offers it. Couverture sourced Direct Trade and Rainforest Alliance, single-origin Bahia where the flavor calls for it. Dairy from regional farms within a 250-mile radius wherever the season allows. No artificial colors — the color you see is cocoa, caramel, fruit, or nut doing the work. No high-fructose corn syrup.
