The Fixer Suga Bark

Price range: $10.00 through $96.00

The one that handles problems. Dark couverture folded with fig and chestnut, jujube and wild honey worked in, Irish cream over it. Dark, unhurried, and better at this than you are.

Description

The Fixer is the bar you call when the others made a mess. Dark couverture folded with umbu-fig and Muskogee chestnut, jujube and wild sourwood honey threaded through, an Irish-cream note laid over the top so the whole thing goes soft and unhurried. Fig paste is shelf-stable and cheap, chestnut stretches the fig, honey lives in a micro-pour — quietly the most useful bar in the fall lineup and it never raises its voice about it.

The Look: Deep and unhurried. The faceted bar pours in near-black dark couverture, fig and chestnut surfacing across the back, jujube flecks catching garnet in the diamond valleys, a faint cream sheen over the top facets. Reads like a stone that’s seen things.

Storage

Store sealed at 60–68°F (16–20°C), somewhere cool, dry, and out of the light. Best within 30 days. Once you’ve opened it, ten to fourteen days. Do not refrigerate — the bar sweats and the facets lose their gloss. Do not freeze. Snap along the facet ridgelines; don’t chop, or you lose the geometry that’s half the point. Fold the sleeve closed between encounters. Contains honey, so keep it out of reach of infants under 12 months.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa slide sleeve over a compostable inner fold, printed on FSC-certified board with soy-based inks and water-based coatings. Turquoise foil stamping is food-grade and aluminum-free where the supplier offers it. Couverture sourced Direct Trade and Rainforest Alliance, single-origin Bahia where the flavor calls for it. Dairy from regional farms within a 250-mile radius wherever the season allows. No artificial colors — the color you see is cocoa, caramel, fruit, or nut doing the work. No high-fructose corn syrup. No palm oil in the base couverture. No pretzels anywhere in the line. Fig paste shelf-stable and cheap; chestnut stretches it, honey in micro-pour.

Dietary Information

Vegetarian. Gluten-free. Non-GMO. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. Contains dairy, tree nuts, and honey. Not vegan. Not kosher-certified. Alcohol-free — bourbon is a flavor note from a food-grade extract.

Ingredients

Dark chocolate couverture (cacao, sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin), fig paste (umbu-fig), chestnut purée, jujube, wild sourwood honey, cream, bourbon-fig flavoring, sea salt.

Allergen Information

Contains milk (cream) and tree nuts (chestnut). Produced on equipment shared with soy, wheat, peanuts, and sesame.

120 reviews for The Fixer Suga Bark

  1. Declan M. –

Grabbed a single bar on a whim and the fig-and-dark-chocolate thing had me. Not a sugar bomb, which I loved. Six-pack is already in the cart.

  2. Priya N. –

Dark and figgy without turning heavy, and that creamy finish at the end is the whole point. Right bar for a drizzly evening.

  3. Mateus R. –

Ordered the twelve-bar box for the house and nobody has complained once. Chestnut in there makes it taste like the season turning.

  4. Chaewon L. –

Jujube in a chocolate bar caught me completely off guard. Tastes like the daechu tea my halmeoni kept on the stove, and that got me a little.

  5. Hollis K. –

Expected plain dark chocolate and got something older and calmer than that. The honey keeps the whole thing soft. Buying more before the leaves drop.

  6. Rafael B. –

Shipped down here in the heat and showed up in perfect shape, which I half expected to go wrong. Melts slow, tastes rich. Sold.

  7. Nia T. –

Good bar, but ten dollars for one is a lot to swallow. The flavor is lovely — fig and a quiet chocolate. I’ll stick to the single, not the box.

  8. Soren V. –

Bit into it braced for sweet and hit this mellow, fruity dark chocolate instead. First frosty morning of the year and it fit right in.

  9. Aisling D. –

That Irish-cream note runs right through the finish and it took me straight back to my gran’s kitchen at Christmas. Hit me in the chest. Converted.

  10. Thiago P. –

Figured a dark bark would be bitter and preachy. This one is warm and fruity instead. Keeping a couple in the pantry for cooler nights.

  11. Wren A. –

Melted a shard into hot milk after a long shift and it basically fixed the day. Smooth, barely sweet, deeply good. Named it correctly.

  12. Yuna S. –

Restrained sweetness is exactly what I grew up loving, and this nails it. The fig and chestnut keep it interesting bite to bite. Reordered already.

  13. Camden H. –

Snapped off a piece during a work call and lost my train of thought. Rich without being cloying. The twelve-bar box was the smart move.

  14. Larkin Q. –

Tasty, just milder than I wanted. I like my dark chocolate to bite back a little more. Pleasant, though, and the fruit is nice.

  15. Osvaldo M. –

Showed up fast even way out here, and the chocolate held up in the heat. Deep, figgy, a little creamy at the end. Ordering the box next.

  16. Beatriz F. –

Fig took me straight back to my avó’s table in Brazil, no warning at all. Paired it with coffee and almost teared up. Buying again, no question.

  17. Tomas K. –

Honestly the best thing I’ve eaten off a dessert table in a while. Dark, warm, a touch of honey. Perfect with the heat finally kicking on.

  18. Imani W. –

Split one bar with my sister and we both went quiet. The chestnut makes it taste like autumn in a wrapper. She’s ordering her own.

  19. Finnegan O. –

Whoever L. A. Walton is, she clearly tastes everything before it goes out the door. This is no factory bar. Mellow, rich, one of a kind.

  20. Seo-jun P. –

The not-too-sweet balance is the whole reason I keep buying. Jujube and honey give it this grown-up depth. First cold snap and I’m stocked.

  21. Marguerite L. –

Pretty good, though the fig got a little jammy for my taste. Still, the finish is smooth and the chocolate is solid. Might try a different flavor next.

  22. Davi S. –

Unwrapped it after the kids went down and finally had a quiet minute. Warm, fruity, not loud about any of it. Already low on my single bar.

  23. Keturah J. –

Rich and mellow in a way most dark bars never manage. The honey rounds off the edges. Crisp night, blanket, this bar — set for the evening.

  24. Niamh R. –

Reminds me of the Baileys my Irish mam poured over everything come winter. The cream note lands just right. Hit me somewhere soft. Reordered.

  25. Hassan E. –

Took a chance on the six-bar box and it was the right call. Dark, a little figgy, easy on the sugar. Nice as the evenings finally cool off here.

  26. Elke B. –

Cracked the wrapper on a foggy morning and the whole thing felt like fall. Deep chocolate, soft fruit, quiet finish. Buying the box before winter.

  27. Guilherme T. –

Pleasantly surprised it survived the trip to the island without melting into a puddle. Mellow and rich. The twelve-bar box is a lot, but good.

  28. Antwan C. –

Decent bar. I wanted the Irish-cream note stronger — it’s faint for me. Still, the dark chocolate base is nice and it’s not too sweet.

  29. Saoirse K. –

Devoured half before I even sat down. Fig and chestnut and a mellow dark chocolate holding it together. Perfect for a raw Maritime night.

  30. Pedro A. –

Caved and bought a single to try. Smooth, fruity, grown-up. It cooled off just enough here to actually enjoy chocolate again. Worth it.

  31. Tallulah M. –

Kept one in my bag for emergencies and it earned the title. The honey and fig make it feel cozy. Leaf season in the mountains, this on hand — perfect.

  32. Jirou N. –

Finally a dark bar that isn’t trying to punish you. The jujube sweetness is so familiar it made me smile. Less sweet, more depth — exactly right.

  33. Byron F. –

Paired a shard with black coffee on a cool porch morning and it clicked. Rich and figgy, creamy at the tail. Six-pack ordered.

  34. Odalys R. –

Nervous about chocolate in this heat, but it held fine and tasted great. Deep and mellow. My single bar vanished — box is next.

  35. Soledad V. –

Melts into this soft, honeyed thing that doesn’t shout. The fruit keeps it from going bitter. First real cold evening up here and I’m hooked.

  36. Dashiell H. –

Opened the twelve-bar box telling myself I’d pace it. I did not. Warm, dark, a little creamy. Feels handmade, the way L. A. Walton’s stuff tends to.

  37. Noa K. –

Liked it, didn’t love it. A touch too mellow for me — I kept wishing it went darker. The fig is lovely though. Fair for the price of one.

  38. Rohan D. –

Stashed one for a rough week and it delivered. Smooth dark chocolate, soft fruit, nothing sugary. Nice now that the heat finally broke.

  39. Feargal B. –

There’s a creamy Irish note hiding at the end that’s my favorite part. Reminds me of home across the water. Bought three bars and hid two. No regrets.

  40. Marisol T. –

Tried the single before committing to a box and I’m committing. Rich, figgy, gentle on the sugar. Good fall treat for a warm coast.

  41. Ravi S. –

Broke a piece off during a late deadline and it genuinely steadied me. Mellow and deep. The box of six barely made the week.

  42. Elspeth M. –

Snowed in the mountains already and this was the right companion. Dark chocolate, honey, a quiet fruit. Cozy to the last bite. Reordering.

  43. Tiago L. –

Caught the fig first and the chestnut second, and liked them both. Not loud, not too sweet. The twelve-bar box felt steep but it’s a lot of bar.

  44. Winona C. –

Chestnut and wild honey — flavors my Muskogee family would know on sight. Meant more than I expected from a chocolate bar. Rich and warm. Yes.

  45. Gunnar P. –

Bought it as a gift and then kept it. Oops. Dark and mellow with a soft creamy end. Perfect for the first cold front of the year.

  46. Lucia F. –

Fine bar, just not a repeat for me. I found the honey a little strong against the dark chocolate. Nice idea, nicely made, just not my thing.

  47. Cormac R. –

Reached for this instead of a glass of anything after work and don’t regret it. Warm, figgy, that cream note at the close. Box ordered.

  48. Mei-ling H. –

Barely sweet and all the better for it, the way good Asian desserts tend to be. The jujube made me nostalgic. Rainy coast, hot tea, this bar — perfect.

  49. Thaddeus K. –

Never thought fig belonged near chocolate, and this changed my mind fast. Mellow, rich, grown-up. Will grab the six next time.

  50. Renata B. –

Figs took me straight back to my avó’s dessert table in Brazil, no warning. Deep and soft and not sugary. I ordered a box the same night — thank you, L. A. Walton.

  51. Idris M. –

Snagged one at a market stall and immediately wanted more. Dark, warm, a little honeyed. Cooling off enough here to enjoy it slow.

  52. Saga L. –

Shared the twelve-bar box with my roommate and we fought over the last one. Rich and mellow and strange in the best way. First snow, zero complaints.

  53. Paloma V. –

Worried it’d arrive soft in this climate and it was perfect. Figgy, deep, creamy finish. A single bar wasn’t enough — box next payday.

  54. Oisín D. –

A cream note at the end tastes like something my Irish dad would’ve loved. Mellow dark chocolate carrying it all. Hit the heart. Repeat buyer now.

  55. Kwame A. –

Brought the single bar on a long drive and it was gone by the state line. Warm and fruity, easy on the sugar. Ordering the six for the house.

  56. Astrid B. –

Cozy is the only word. Dark chocolate, soft fig, a little honey. Sweater weather finally hit and this is my new ritual. Already restocking.

  57. Dev P. –

Solid but pricey for a single bar. The flavor’s good — mellow and figgy — just not ten-dollars good for me. Might catch it on a deal.

  58. Ebba K. –

Minus-weather already here and this was the warm thing I needed. Deep, creamy, barely sweet. The box of twelve won’t last till spring. Love it.

  59. Marcelo T. –

Pried a piece off during a meeting and zoned out happily. Rich, fruity, gentle finish. Good call on the six-pack — one bar would’ve been cruel.

  60. Halle J. –

Rewarded myself after a hard week and it fixed everything a chocolate bar can. Mellow, warm, lovely. Whatever L. A. Walton’s doing, it’s working.

  61. Taika N. –

Pleasant surprise — a dark bark that’s calm instead of bitter. The honey and fig carry it. Cold prairie night, this and a blanket. Content.

  62. Benicio R. –

Came all the way to the island in great shape, no melting drama. Deep and figgy with a smooth close. Single bar gone, ordering the box.

  63. Fiadh M. –

Snuck a square before dinner and ruined my appetite happily. The cream finish is my undoing. Reminds me of my gran. Five stars, no debate.

  64. Yohan L. –

Less sugar, more depth, exactly how I like a sweet. The jujube note felt like home. Cooling off nicely here. The twelve-bar box is a commitment but worth it.

  65. Priscila B. –

Added it to my cart on a rainy night and I’m glad I did. Warm, figgy, creamy at the end. Finally jacket weather and this fits it.

  66. Wade C. –

Okay, not great, for me. I kept wanting it to go darker and more intense. The fruit’s nice and it’s clearly well made. One-and-done, probably.

  67. Noor H. –

Dropped a shard into coffee on the first truly cold morning and sighed out loud. Rich and mellow and unusual. Box ordered before I finished the cup.

  68. Eamon D. –

Started with one bar, as a test. Failed the test — want ten more. Dark, soft, a quiet cream note at the close. Finally cool enough here to enjoy it.

  69. Sora K. –

Faint sweetness is my whole love language, and this gets it. Jujube and honey, so comforting it startled me. Grey wet night, perfect.

  70. Dominic V. –

Nabbed the six-bar box on a hunch and now it’s a fixture. Deep, figgy, creamy. You can taste that L. A. Walton actually cares about this stuff.

  71. Isabela F. –

Chocolate and fig shouldn’t work and somehow do beautifully. Mellow, warm, not sugary. Cold front rolled in and this is my evening treat now.

  72. Rangi T. –

Half expected a melted mess in the mailbox and got a perfect bar. Rich and soft with a smooth finish. The box is a splurge but I’m tempted.

  73. Clodagh M. –

An Irish-cream whisper at the end is the best part, hands down. Took me home for a second. Dark and mellow underneath. Repeat customer, locked in.

  74. Jabari A. –

Alright bar. The honey leaned sweet for me against the dark chocolate. Fig’s nice, finish is smooth. Not quite a reorder but no complaints.

  75. Linnea B. –

Inhaled the single bar embarrassingly fast. Warm, fruity, a soft creamy tail. First snow flurries today — this was the right comfort. Box incoming.

  76. Caio R. –

Had a shard with my afternoon coffee and it made the grey day better. Deep and figgy, gentle on sugar. Cooling off nicely. Will buy again.

  77. Aroha K. –

At last, a dark bark that doesn’t fight you — it just melts and comforts. The fruit keeps it lively. Crisp Ontario evening, hot tea, this. Perfect.

  78. Lorcan D. –

Chose this over dessert three nights running. Mellow, rich, that cream note I love. Reminds me of my gran’s cupboard. Reordered the box.

Turned up intact despite the heat, which I appreciated. Figgy and deep with a smooth end. One bar wasn’t enough — the six is on my list.

Not-too-sweet is exactly how I was raised to like it, and this bar understands. Jujube took me right back. Cold snap tonight — cozy and content. Reorder.

  81. Gideon H. –

Cut a piece off while hiding from my inbox and it was the best five minutes of the day. Warm, figgy, mellow. The box of six was smart.

  82. Tâmara F. –

One bite of fig and I was back in my grandmother’s kitchen in Brazil. Didn’t see it coming. Deep, soft, barely sweet. Ordered more that same night.

  83. Everett C. –

Reasonable, but I expected more punch from a dark bark. It’s gentle — maybe too gentle for me. Nicely made, and the fruit’s lovely. Fair price for one.

  84. Keanu L. –

Softens like a secret and tastes even better. Dark chocolate, honey, soft fig. First real cold up in the Okanagan and this is my ritual now. Getting the box.

  85. Delphine B. –

Treated myself to a single bar and I’m converted. Rich, mellow, a quiet creamy finish. Finally cool enough to enjoy chocolate here.

  86. Osei A. –

Hauled the twelve-bar box to a family thing and it disappeared. Deep, warm, not sugary. Everyone asked where it came from. Reordering for myself.

Warm, deep, and just sweet enough — I keep reaching for it. The cream note nods to home across the pond. L. A. Walton clearly knows flavor. Reordered.

  93. Catalina V. –

Genuinely shocked it travelled this far and stayed perfect. Figgy and rich with a smooth finish. The single’s gone. Box is calling my name.

  94. Eun-ji P. –

Gently sweet, deeply satisfying — exactly how dessert should be. Jujube made me smile into my tea. Cold front tonight, cozy as can be. Buying the box.

  95. Roland C. –

Middling for me, honestly — milder than I like my dark chocolate. The fig’s nice and it’s clearly well made. Just wanted a bigger bite. Probably a one-time thing.

  96. Freya B. –

Already dark by late afternoon up here, and this is the warm thing I reach for. Rich, mellow, soft fruit. The twelve-bar box is my winter plan. Love it.

  97. Tupac R. –

Arrived in great shape despite the island heat, which won me over before the first bite. Deep and figgy, creamy at the end. Ordering the six.

  98. Maeve D. –

Stirred a shard into warm milk and it tasted like my gran’s Christmas. That cream note undoes me. Mellow and rich beneath. Three bars deep, no shame.

  99. Jin-ho L. –

Lower on sugar, higher on interest — the jujube depth is so comforting it startled me. Snow already here. Hot tea, this bar, blanket. Reordered immediately.

  100. Orla B. –

Wasn’t expecting to care this much about a chocolate bar. Dark, figgy, soft at the finish. L. A. Walton clearly puts real thought into these — nothing about it feels factory. Box ordered.

Agreeable bar, but the honey tipped a bit sweet for me against the dark. The fig and finish are lovely, though. Fairly priced for a single. On the fence.

Gentle sweetness done right, which is rare. The jujube felt like my mom’s kitchen. Cold Ontario night, this and tea. Perfect. Already restocking the twelve.

  111. Malik T. –

Carried one into a long evening and it did the job. Rich, figgy, mellow. The cold snap makes it even better. Six-pack next, for sure.

  112. Síle R. –

Keep coming back for that creamy Irish finish — tastes like my nan’s. Mellow dark chocolate under it all. Converted completely. Box ordered.
